World Braille Day

World Braille Day is observed every year on January 4 to spread awareness about the importance of Braille language as a means of communication for blind and visually impaired people. The day serves as a reminder to authorities and people in power to understand the importance of accessibility for people who are visually impaired.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in November 2018 chose the date for World Braille Day via a proclamation in November 2018. The first world Braille Day was celebrated on January 4, 2019.
